About Us

Green Apple Auto Works opened in 2016 by General Manager, AJ Whitaker (second from right) and his father-in-law. AJ grew up on Neville Island in Pittsburgh, and was always interested in cars. He loved learning how things worked and the physics behind them. He attended Rosedale Technical Institute and worked at a few automotive repair shops where he was consistently the top-performing technician. AJ’s brother, Nick (middle), joined the company in 2017 as the assistant manager after working at a dealership for many years. AJ is an ASE-certified technician both he and Nick are active members of the Pittsburgh Autocross community.

AJ met Sean (left) over a decade ago when each of them had owned a Toyota Supra and Sean had a for sale ad posted on Craigslist for Supra parts. They became friends over the years and fate would have it that Sean moved to Glenshaw, making the decision to become our lead technician even easier. Sean is a current SCCA member and local AutoXer. Say Hi to Sean when you see him, he’s shy but has a wealth of Automotive knowledge that he doesn’t mind sharing.

The first 10 years of Green Apple Auto Works helped the team discover their true passion — and strongest reputation — came from helping enthusiasts improve the performance and handling of cars built for motorsports applications. As demand for track & autocross-focused builds, suspension tuning, performance upgrades, and race-preparation services continued to grow, the shop evolved beyond its original identity. In May 2026, the company officially rebranded as Apex Society, a name that better reflected its commitment to precision engineering, driving culture, and the pursuit of peak performance both on and off the track.
